    Deadline to re-certify for 340B is March 9th

    The annual 340B re-certification period for FQHCs closes TOMORROWMarch 9. According to HRSA’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA,) there are still many health centers that need to complete the process.  If you fail to re-certify by tomorrow, you will be removed from the 340B Program until July 1 at the earliest. 

    Please complete the process as soon as possible. Each health center’s Authorizing Official should have received specific information directly from the Office of Pharmacy Affairs with details on how to complete the re-certification.      U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Gary Peters (D-MI)  introduced the Hallways to Health Act on February 25th to help school-  based health centers improve health care services for  children. Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA) has introduced companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.     The Health Resources and Services Administration - Rural is accepting applications February 8 through April 8 for fiscal year 2016 grants to support telehealth services for school-based health centers in rural communities. The Telehealth Network Grant Program anticipates awarding up to 20 grants of up to $300,000 a year for four years.

Kathleen Pendergast, pediatric nurse practitioner at the clinic was quoted saying "Students know this is a place where they can get help, and our door is always open."  Article

    New York State and the New York State Child Protective System recognize certain professionals as holding the important role of mandated reporter of child abuse or maltreatment. These professionals can be held liable by both the civil and criminal legal systems for intentionally failing to make a report. A self-directed, online training course is available through Alliance member the Resource Center's website, and in our resource section. This training is sponsored by NYS OCFS and administered by SUNY Buffalo State.

    The Alliance held its annual Advocacy Day event in Albany on February 9th.  600 attendees gathered to listen to legislator presentations, celebrate award and citation recipients, and engage in student speak-outs.
